This knife represents what I enjoy doing most. The drop point is time proven for hunting, camp use and general utility. The blade is 440C stainless which is an excellent steel at a reasonable cost. The blade is 5/32" thick - strong enough to take some abuse but with the tapered tang, still yields a light, quick, well balanced knife. The scales are stabilized Amboyna burl. Amboyna is primarily from South East Asia and is still often harvested by elephants. Specimens with this outstanding figure and colour are very rare. Note the sheath - designed to go on the left hip for a left handed user. The leather is English Vegetable Tan - expensive - but much kinder to steel than traditional chrome tanned leathers.
This knife is meaningful in a very special way. It was presented to an outdoor educator, in recognition of consistent dedication and accomplishment. Hence the inscription on the offside;
